Bacterial vaginosis or BVis the most common type of vaginal infection, affecting more than 21 million women in the US each year. Yet many women have never heard of BV, or confuse it with other vaginal infections.
BV is caused by an imbalance of naturally occurring bacteria in the vagina, and can lead to a range of symptoms such as athin discharge, unpleasant odor, itching, and burning. Having BV can increase your risk of developing other pelvic infections and may even affect fertility. If not treated properly, BV may continue to come back - causing further discomfort and frustration.
Right now, women’s health specialists throughout the US are conducting a new research study that may be able to help. The study is called DARE-BVFREE and is for an investigational gel intended to treat BV. If you have BV, or suspect you have BV, this study may be right for you.
If you qualify and choose to join the study, you will be seen by a local women’s health specialist and will receive all study-related and study medication at no cost.
